Director Renato Solidum of the the Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was measured as 6.9 at a relatively shallow depth of 10 kilometers which struck at about 11:49 in the morning. The main quake was tectonic in origin and was followed by four aftershocks
Phivolcs advised everyone living in coastal areas to evacuate and seek higher places to keep themselves secure of the possible tsunami.
