An aircraft engineer died after he was sucked into a plane's engine while he is doing a routine maintenance check.

Police gives no detail on the matter an is currently undergoing further investigation to find out if the man died of a jet engine or was hit by the propeller of the plane. According to report, emergency services do CPR to the victim but failed to revive him and was immediately declared dead on the spot at the Woodbourne Airport near Blenheim.
Tasman acting district commander Steve Caldwell said the man would not be named until his next of kin had been informed of his death.
