Peter Bergen, CNN National Security Analyst, reported on CNN that a young Egyptian in the person of Saif al- Adel is now appointed as Al Qaeda's new "caretaker" leader.He played important role in Al Qaeda's operation when bin Laden is still alive. On Bergen's report, Norman Benotman, who has known the Al Qaeda leadership for more than 2 decades, choosing al-Adel is not the decision of the formal shura coucil of Al Qaeda but the decision of some 6 leaders which includes al-Adel.
al-Adel has been linked to various militant activities in the 1980'sand various anti-American attacks.
